Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision overturns the right to abortion.
June 24, 2022
Supreme Court, by a 5-4 margin, overturns its 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that found women had a constitutional right to abortion. In the majority opinion, written by Justice Samuel Alioto, the court finds, “The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision, including . . . the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.” In Boston, thousands of people take part in demonstrations during the next two days to protest the court’s decision.
